About Kyara.
I may look like I’m seventeen (thanks, Mom) but have actually been shooting professionally since 2011. I started in North San Diego County and continued on through the years I spent in Utah County. I graduated in 2017 with a BFA in Photography and a degree in Marketing, packed everything up, and moved to the Seattle-Tacoma area in early 2018. The Pacific Northwest already feels like home to me.
I’ve been sent on a couple photojournalism assignments, had a couple fine art exhibits, and been published in a couple of books and magazines… But really, I’m happiest when I do work that allows me to just connect with other people and document the human experience and human interactions.
If you’re looking for photos that are perfectly posed, perfectly lit with artificial lighting, and heavily edited in Photoshop, that’s not me and we won’t be a great fit. But if you’re looking for candid, expressive photos that capture the moment just the way it is in this season of life, I think we should talk.
I believe that life is a gift that we don’t get to hang onto forever, and I try my hardest to find the beauty even in the mundane. I hope that my photos may always reflect that. If this more honest, journalistic style of photography speaks to you, I’d love to take your photo.
I currently reside in University Place, WA with my spouse, our two rescue dogs, and our kitty, Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
